Rooms in the Sacrosanct House

All citations in bold from Ibn Arabi’s al-Futuhat al-Makkiyah Book 1,2,3,4 translated by Shuayb Eric Winkle; Pir Press 2020.

*

There is no door to the Sacrosanct House

“There is a door that has been bolted shut by Messenger of God”

*

You have to approach from below,

inside a low and buried stream of water

Rolling in as the source of the Muhammadi Oasis

That quietly erupts inside

and roles towards a sealed Presence.

*

“….she had withdrawn from her people to a chamber looking East.”

*

Corbin says we begin

in the Crypt of the Temple

When we join the friends

When we take our place in the line.

*

“The site of the Qutb (Pivot) who resides there is not perceived except by the one who inherits from him.”

*

From our bones the temple rises

From the crypt where we begin

Each floor emerges,

each planet,

each metal,

each world,

each angelic hand.

It grows like a vine,

like a pillar,

like a throne

From the leveled Earth,

folded around you.

Like the red flag of Hassan i Sabbah,

Unrolling and flying in a place away

Announcing the time of rising, raising

Looking East,

mouth open,

Nourishment roaring in

As the voice of a room

In a sacrosanct house

Rising up between four mountains

And four rivers.

*

Each chapter of al-Futuhat al-Makkiyah

Is an interior room with a Presence,

A nourishing voice.

*

“This friend receives them just as the Muhammad-based site received them, because of the Presence which came to him in this Presence-site (hadrat). She is told by the Presence of this Muhammad-based site what messages he should propagate for the sake of this community.”

*

As you enter a room, there is a flash

A sulfurous person is there

And a message for you that persists.

*

Does this message sink into the waters

That led you to the House,

does it become quiet, interior

Wrapped and obscured by Earth?

This is the phase of the Egg, and the Seed.

*

Does it rise and build a new level

A new floor in the House

Announce a new voice?

This is the phase of the Flying Bird and the Rising Shoot

*

Or does it dwell with the spirits

Of this place,

join a persisting community

Holding space for manifestation sites

For orbiting letters to land

And convey the path through the spheres,

Through the rooms of this house.

This is the phase of the Perched Eagle or the Fruiting Tree

*

“However, this friend (wali) has heard it from the same spirit who cast it Ito the Muhammad-based truth, just as the Companions heard it………If one hears it from the casting spirit, then one is like the Companions who heard it from the mouth of Messenger of God.”

*

Every wall of each interior room of this sealed House

Touches another room.

The interior walls have openings

That appear,

eventually,

or you become distracted

create distraction.

*

Sometimes the opening is a wound

And when this is the case

we turn away from the voice, the letters, the law, the community

We stop and sit with the Presence,

We face her,

the interior sulphur of this room.

*

“The world of breaths from my breath:

They are the annunciators of the wholly apart.”

*

Like the Throne’s Bearers on the day of arising

The Sacrosanct House has eight floors.

In Chapter 15 Book 2 The Breaths or The Room of The Breaths

We find a list of the Seven Floors

And in Chapter 14 Prophet-Friends or The Room of The Prophet-Friends

reveals the Eighth

The first and lowest floor,

Has sealed exterior walls

That have no door

But there is an opening

in the center of the floor

for the soul to arrive as a pool, a water, a mercury

A mirror to reflect the seven skies.

*

As a dweller in the sacrosanct house,

The Mercury of my soul

Receives the Sulphur flash in each room

of al-Futuhat al-Makkiyah

And the Salt is the Body of the Anthropos

The walls and container

Of this miraculous place.

*

Muhyiddin ibn al-Arabi

traversed the ladder

Through the eight floors of

this House

And he leaves us these instructions to follow him.

*

Part Two: The Ladder of the Hidden Ziggurat

Spheres, Rooms, Organs

*

You begin at the Oasis of Muhammad

Chapter Fourteen Book Two Prophet-Friends

Your soul sinks into a low and secret stream of water

It delivers you to the manifestation site

Of a once buried Reality

Here pooling in Presence, arriving, nourishing, showing its face.

The Eastern wall of this room

Connects to Chapter Twenty Nine Book Three Ahl al-bayt

*

“This is the one who returns, among the ones cut off to be alone, to God. They are cut off from the creation, and their attachment is to journeys, the open spaces, and the shorelines, and fleeing from the people, and departing the kingdom of the living – because they want freedom from all beings.”

*

You start in the Crypt of this World

You begin below, underneath the House

Rolling quickly, with purpose to find

The feet and legs of The Complete Person

Mercy and Justice rising up,

soaring in beautiful

Sensuous form.

*

“Indeed over my creatures you have no dominion” al-hijr 15:42

*

The wall of this room connects to Chapter 13 Book 2

The Bearers of The Thorne

Malik and Ridwan hold one support of The Throne

Openings to fire and paradise

A seed of Gold longs for

the mercy of water and justice of fire

To be healed by Imam Mudawi al-Kulum

To become clear and bright.

*

You proceed as an Egg, a soaring Hawk, a perched Eagle

To The Moon, To Adam,

The Tailbone of The Complete Human

The second floor of the House.

You ascend on secret airs,

On subtle gales of Israfil,

Blow us home, with truest aim.

*

“Knowledge of happiness and wretchedness; and knowledge of the names”

*

You proceed with the roaring gales

To Mercury, To Jesus

The Sacrum

The third floor of the House

*

“Jesus is the seal of the Friends. It is an honor given by Muhammad. That God sealed the authority conveyed by friendship with Him (wilayah)….”

*

You proceed from pulsing spirals

To an underground sun

The fourth floor is the solar plexus

To Joseph and To Venus

Bright binding and loosing

Becoming lost in deep wells

and obscured by deeper folds of Beauty

*

Your first pass through Venus

Is sublimating desire

But as Imam Mudawi al-Kulum heals you

And makes you Beautiful

Then She (Beauty) becomes your driving force

Your swiftest arrow

To arrive at the love of the

Word,

the breath,

the lips,

the bright body and face.

*

“But there may occur in the mineral some deficiency or ‘sickness’ from excess dryness or excess wetness,  or heat or cold, displacing it from just balance. This sickness has an influence on a particular form, now called iron, brass or lead – or some other mineral.

“The wise man (hakim) provides knowledge of remedies and medicines to remove this illness that occurred, depending on the personality of this seeker of a degree of perfection (kamal, completion) with regard to minerals – and that is gold – so he removes it. He rectifies and adjusts it until it reaches the degree of perfection.”

*

The fifth floor

Is the strong chest and breasts

atomic brilliance

The Sun and Enoch:

“…..knowledge of flashes and rays; knowledge of every luminescent body, and why it glows…”

*

The sixth floor is the throat

Of Mars and of Aaron:

“..knowledge of managing the kingdom…..knowledge of guiding and misguiding…”

*

The seventh floor is the face

Of Moses and of Jupiter

The fire of perception,

the fire of the mind.

*

The eighth floor is

Saturn and Abraham

The crown of the Anthropos.

*

“Each swims in an orbit” al-anbiya 21:33

“And by the stars they are guided” al-nahl 16:16

*

Circulate the consciousness, soul, and body

Through the openings of Fire and Water

Through the rooms of the eight floors

Through the Presences.

*

The walls witness, the walls open

The Tannur of Noah

erupts and pools

becomes a living stream,

a mirror of seven skies.

*

“……the friend shares equally with the prophet in perceiving what the general population sees while sleeping, but in the awake state. This place (of the waking dream) belongs to the friends among the family of our path. And an accomplishment of another place is the act of spiritual energy (himmah), and knowledge acquired….”
